Maharshi Ramana was asked why a liberated saint did not take all others with them. He is said to have replied that if someone saw a group of sleeping persons in a dream, would one ask when awake if those others had woken up too?
When asked if self liberation appears to be selfish, he is said to have replied that if someone saw a room full of sleeping people in a dream, would one say that one would wake up when the others did?
